TAG Heuer Expands Smartwatch Line with Running-Focused Calibre E5
TAG Heuer today announced the Connected Calibre E5, a new smartwatch building on the brand’s success in golf and expanding into the running market with a redesigned operating system and suite of new features.
The Calibre E5, unveiled on 2025-10-13 19:30:00, boasts a new operating system developed in-house by TAG Heuer over three years. Key features for runners include structured “Running Plans” adaptable to all experience levels, pace tracking with real-time feedback, guided sessions, and interval timers. The watch also incorporates dual-band GNSS technology for improved GPS accuracy, even while running indoors – a common frustration for athletes.
Beyond the running-specific tools, the Calibre E5 offers seamless integration with popular platforms, including Strava, and has received “Made for iPhone” certification. This move signals a broader push by TAG Heuer to compete with established players like Apple in the broader fitness wearable market, offering a luxury alternative. The company previously gained recognition when professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood wore a TAG Heuer Connected watch celebrating his PGA Tour Championship victory earlier this year.
TAG Heuer’s initial success has been largely driven by its golf features, including detailed maps for over 40,000 courses and swing analysis tools; the company intends to leverage that technological expertise into the running space. Officials stated the Calibre E5 will be available for purchase starting next month.
But the biggest reason behind the TAG Heuer Connected’s staying power, by far, is its focus on golf. The watch’s many golf-specific features — like maps for over 40,000 courses, shot tracking, swing analysis and more — have made it a fixture on fairways around the world. One even got a share of the limelight usually reserved for luxury watches from Rolex and Omega when Tommy Fleetwood wore one to celebrate his victory at the PGA Tour Championship earlier this year.
But now, TAG has its sights set on capturing another athletic demographic that wants a dedicated fitness watch that’s also as everyday-wearable as the Apple Watch.
The Connected Calibre E5 has a brand-new operating system — one that TAG developed in-house over a three-year period — and with it comes a host of new features and specs aimed at runners.
There’s a new Running Plans feature that offers users a structured path toward achieving their goals, regardless of their experience level. You can track your progress over weeks to keep yourself accountable, while features like pace trackers and feedback, guided sessions, interval timers and more are designed to seamlessly integrate into your running routine.
New dual-band GNSS technology offers unparalleled GPS tracking. No longer will you have to worry about your signal cutting out while running indoors; the maps remain startingly accurate no matter what. Also new is Made for iPhone certification and Strava integration, making the watch easier to plug into your everyday life and your running community, respectively.
