Adobe is bolstering its position in the creative software market with a new round of AI-powered updates for Photoshop and After Effects. The latest enhancements, announced January 20, focus on streamlining workflows and expanding creative possibilities for designers and video editors. Adobe is rolling out a new suite of AI-powered tools and editing features for Photoshop and After Effects.

Adobe has announced new updates for Photoshop and After Effects designed to accelerate workflows with new adjustment layers, enhanced generative capabilities, and intelligent text features. The updates reflect Adobe’s ongoing commitment to integrating artificial intelligence across its creative software suite.

Enhanced Control for Image Editing

Photoshop is gaining three new adjustment layers: Clarity, Dehaze, and Grain. These layers are non-destructive and fully maskable, offering precise control without altering the original image. Clarity allows users to enhance details and sharpness, Dehaze helps correct haze and challenging lighting conditions, and Grain adds texture and depth. The new layers provide a more flexible and refined editing experience.

Dynamic Text Now in Beta

Adobe is introducing Dynamic Text in the latest beta release of Photoshop. This feature enables users to convert text layers into circular, arched, or curved shapes with a single click. Photoshop automatically adjusts the text to fit the chosen path, eliminating the need for manual adjustments.

After Effects is also receiving updates, including support for importing SVG files, streamlining workflows with Adobe Illustrator. Additionally, Adobe is introducing 3D parametric meshes, allowing users to build photorealistic objects and graphic elements – such as cubes, spheres, and cylinders – directly within After Effects.

The Firefly-powered features, Generative Fill, Generative Expand, and the Remove Tool, now deliver results up to 2K resolution with sharper details and fewer artifacts. The Reference Image feature for Generative Fill has also been expanded, improving the alignment of objects in terms of scale, perspective, lighting, and color.

The updates are now available in Photoshop for desktop. The Firefly enhancements are also being rolled out to the web version of Photoshop.
