He vowed to pursue and punish those responsible for the 2023 Delhi car bombing, stating they will be apprehended “even from the depths of hell.” Shah made the remarks while chairing the 32nd meeting of the Northern Zonal Council in Faridabad, Haryana.
The meeting began with a moment of silence to honor those killed in the car bomb explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort and in a separate blast at a police station in Nowgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Attendees observed two minutes of silence and extended condolences to the families of the victims.
Modi Administration’s Vision and the Role of Regional Councils
Shah emphasized the crucial role of regional councils in fostering dialogue, cooperation, and coordination. He cited Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “strong states building a strong nation,” adding that the government is consistently working towards this goal. The statement underscores the administration’s focus on strengthening inter-state collaboration.
He noted a significant increase in the frequency of council meetings, rising approximately 2.5 times between 2004-2014 and 2014-2025. A total of 1,600 issues have been discussed, with 1,303 – or 81.43% – resolved.
Focus on Safety of Women and Children, and Cooperative Efforts
Shah stated that the safety and security of women and children is a top priority. He stressed the need to increase the number of Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs). He also highlighted progress in cooperative societies, agriculture, and fisheries, noting that these sectors are generating employment opportunities and gradually reducing poverty. This emphasis reflects a broader governmental strategy to address socio-economic vulnerabilities.
Concluding his remarks, Shah reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to the fight against terrorism and vowed that perpetrators will not escape justice.
