Polish actress Andżelika Piechowiak has finalized a remarkably amicable divorce from radio and television journalist Rafał Olejniczak after two years of separation, demonstrating a level of maturity increasingly rare in high-profile splits. “Sometimes marriages don’t work out, but friendship and goodwill can remain,” Piechowiak told Złota Scena, adding, “I wish everyone going through a separation could have a divorce like ours.”
Andżelika Piechowiak once planned a wedding with a well-known actor – but a shared financial commitment proved to be an even stronger bond.
Rafał Olejniczak wasn’t Piechowiak’s first romantic interest. Two decades ago, in 2005, the actress fell for Michał Lesień while working together on the television series “Lokatorzy.”
Shortly after meeting, the pair decided to build a life together, sealing their commitment with a joint home purchase.
“We are connected for the next 30 years by the monthly mortgage payments,” they shared in an interview with “Gala.” “We sometimes joke that it’s a stronger commitment than saying ‘I do.’ And it’s definitely harder to get out of than a marriage.”
In 2009, the couple founded a production company focused on creating theatrical productions. However, their relationship didn’t last as long as they’d hoped.
Eventually, Piechowiak bought out Lesień’s share of their company, “Palma,” and subsequently asked him to move out of their shared home. She took on the full responsibility of paying off the mortgage they had jointly secured years earlier.
Piechowiak finalized her divorce from her husband, but continues to collaborate with him. “He makes an exception for me.”
Following her split from Lesień, Piechowiak began a relationship with radio and television journalist and photographer, Rafał Olejniczak.
Piechowiak and Olejniczak were known as a close and happy couple, marrying in September 2016. Two years later, in 2018, they welcomed their daughter, Wiktoria.
While Olejniczak pursued his own business ventures, he frequently collaborated with his wife as a photographer. Even after their divorce, he continues to accept assignments from her.
“He’s been taking photos for my plays since we met,” Piechowiak revealed in an interview with Złota Scena. “I completely trust him because he always delivers great photos where I look fantastic. He doesn’t do it professionally anymore, but he makes an exception for me – he gets his equipment out and photographs.”
News of Piechowiak and Olejniczak’s decision to separate surfaced quietly in late 2022 and early 2023, with the couple prioritizing the preservation of their friendship and mutual respect.
“You have to maintain respect for the other person and all the years you’ve spent together, especially when you have a child,” Piechowiak said in the aforementioned interview.

“Our daughter is the most important thing, and we want her to know that her parents get along well,” Andżelika said in the interview.
“Friendship after divorce is possible, but both sides have to want it. We did,” she added.
