‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Described as a “Love Letter” to Superhero Genre; ‘Saw’ Star Open to Return
Several major entertainment projects saw developments today, including details emerging about the upcoming Marvel film ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ a potential return for a key character in the ‘Saw’ franchise, and a new live-action manga studio launch.
Simu Liu, speaking about ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ described the film as “a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies,” celebrating “all the misfits and the weirdos and the underdogs that grew up reading comic books.” The highly anticipated film will feature a large ensemble cast, bringing together numerous actors who grew up admiring the superhero genre, potentially offering a nostalgic experience for longtime fans. Meanwhile, Famke Janssen revealed she has “never ever” been approached by Marvel or Disney to reprise her role as Jean Grey, despite frequent inquiries from the public and media.
Cary Elwes indicated he would be willing to return as Dr. Lawrence Gordon in a future ‘Saw’ installment, but only if James Wan personally requested his involvement. “I love James,” Elwes stated. “If they want to bring Dr. Gordon back, that’s a decision above my pay grade.” Elsewhere, James Wan is involved in a new horror project, ‘Claire,’ starring Krysten Ritter, which follows a single mother battling addiction and a malevolent creature.
