BermudAir Expands New York Service, Adds Anguilla Routes Amidst Seasonal Shift

BermudAir is expanding its presence in the New York metropolitan area and launching seasonal service to Anguilla this winter, signaling a strategic shift to mitigate Bermuda’s off-season tourism and establish a broader Caribbean network.

The airline will begin twice-weekly flights to Newark Liberty International Airport on October 25 and LaGuardia Airport on October 29, supplementing existing service to Westchester County Airport, which will be reduced from five to three weekly flights. This expansion comes as BermudAir ceases flights to Bradley International Airport in Connecticut on October 23. “New York is by far the biggest market for Bermuda,” said BermudAir founder Adam Scott. “It’s the world’s best-kept secret as far as I’m concerned, only two hours from New York, and it shouldn’t be so difficult to get to.” Securing landing slots in the busy New York airspace required utilizing multiple airports.

BermudAir, which launched two years ago, operates a fleet of four Embraer regional aircraft serving eight U.S. cities and three in Canada. The airline initially planned an all-first-class configuration but adapted due to supply chain issues, now offering both first-class and economy seating. The move to Anguilla, branded as AnguillaAir, will offer non-stop service to Newark, Boston, and Baltimore beginning in December, filling a gap in winter travel options to the island; learn more about travel to Anguilla on the official tourism website. This expansion aims to diversify revenue streams during Bermuda’s slower winter months, a common challenge for island destinations.

Scott emphasized the airline’s commitment to customer experience, stating, “It’s all about the Bermudian smile. It’s all about going that extra mile to provide a differentiated experience,” and highlighted the complimentary dark ‘n’ stormies served in economy class. BermudAir currently competes with major carriers like American, JetBlue, Delta, and United, but holds a unique position as the airline offering the most routes to Bermuda. The airline intends to extend Anguilla service beyond the winter season and explore other underserved Caribbean markets in the future, according to Scott.
