Jacksonville Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Hodges Boulevard
A bicyclist was fatally struck by a dark-colored SUV Monday evening on Hodges Boulevard, prompting a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigation.
The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. in the 4400 block of Hodges Boulevard, where the victim, a white male in his late 20s, was reportedly traveling northbound when he was hit. According to authorities, the SUV immediately left the scene. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department personnel pronounced the bicyclist deceased at the location of the crash.
This marks the 138th traffic fatality in Duval County this year, and the eighth involving a bicyclist, raising concerns about road safety for vulnerable users.
