Junction City Blue Jays Dominate Topeka High 44-6

The Junction City Blue Jays secured a decisive victory yesterday, defeating Topeka High 44-6 at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka.

The game began with an early turnover for Junction City after a miscommunication on an offensive line snap, giving Topeka High possession in plus territory. However, the Blue Jay defense quickly responded, with junior nose guard Trevon Briley sacking the quarterback on a fourth-down attempt. Senior quarterback Conrad Gomez then connected with junior wide receiver Brody Boeckman for a 63-yard touchdown, putting Junction City on the board. A key defensive play in the second quarter saw senior Sean Powell intercept a deep pass in the end zone.

While Topeka High managed a touchdown following a special teams miscue, Junction City controlled the second half, adding three rushing touchdowns – one each by junior running back Josiah Totive and Gomez (two), and a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown by linebacker Toby Johnson. The Blue Jay defense proved formidable, holding Topeka High to just six points and marking the second time this season they’ve prevented an opponent from scoring a touchdown. This strong defensive performance is crucial as the team looks toward a competitive schedule. You can find more information about high school football rankings at MaxPreps.

With the win, Junction City improves to 4-2 on the season, and this is the third time this season they’ve held a team to under ten points. Defensive lineman Jackson Hollie was named player of the game. The team will next host Washburn Rural for their homecoming game next Friday night; you can find the Junction City Blue Jays team schedule on their official website.
