Britney Spears Responds to Ex-Husband Kevin Federline’s Memoir Allegations
Pop star Britney Spears today addressed alarming allegations made by her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, in his upcoming memoir, You Thought You Know, regarding her behavior around their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Federline’s memoir, as reported by The New York Times, includes claims that Spears would watch their children sleep with a knife in her hand and a warning that “something bad is going to happen if things don’t change.” Spears responded on X, accusing Federline of “constant gaslighting” that she described as “extremely hurtful and exhausting.”
“I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,” Spears wrote in her post. She also highlighted the limited contact she’s had with her sons in recent years, stating one son has only seen her for 45 minutes in the past five years and the other for only four visits. This dispute comes after a highly publicized conservatorship battle that ended in 2021, significantly impacting Spears’ relationship with her children.
Federline suggests Spears needs professional help, arguing that the energy of the “Free Britney” movement should now be focused on a “Save Britney” movement, claiming the situation is “no longer about freedom. It’s about survival.” Spears countered, stating she is an “intelligent woman” who has been attempting to live a private life and dismissed concerns about her mental health and alleged drinking, referencing her own 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me. Representatives for both Spears and Federline have not yet commented on potential legal action.
