GrowthAfrica Launches 2025 Digital and Green Innovation Program for East African Startups

A new acceleration program designed to support early-stage tech businesses focused on sustainability and climate resilience across East Africa was launched today, offering funding, mentorship, and market access.

The GrowthAfrica Challenger Digital and Green Innovation Acceleration Programme 2025 is now accepting applications from ventures registered and operating in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda. The program specifically targets startups developing digital solutions in areas like climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, and circular economy initiatives. Successful applicants will receive tailored business acceleration, investor readiness training, and opportunities to pitch at international events like Latitude59 Kenya and Latitude59 Estonia. This initiative comes as Africa faces increasing pressure to adopt sustainable practices and mitigate the effects of climate change.

To be eligible, companies must be at the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or early-revenue stage, have at least two co-founders, and demonstrate growth potential with clear market traction. Preference will be given to youth- and women-led enterprises. The program will focus on supporting innovation in climate-smart agriculture and food systems, renewable energy, circular economy, water conservation, green mobility, digital financial inclusion, and environmental data. Interested entrepreneurs can find more information about GrowthAfrica and its initiatives on their website.

The application deadline is November 10, 2025, with the program commencing in early December 2025 and lasting 7–9 months. Officials stated the program aims to bridge the gap between innovation and opportunity, empowering entrepreneurs to scale their impact across borders and attract vital investment, as highlighted in recent reports by the World Bank on sustainable development in Africa.
