French actress Ariane Brodier, known for her role as Juliette Vanin in the long-running series Camping Paradis, was attacked by three dogs during a trail run near her home on Thursday, November 20th. The actress sustained bites to her hand and calf and required hospital treatment.

Brodier, 46, detailed the frightening encounter on Instagram, explaining she had been enjoying a run in preparation for the La SaintéLyon race. “This morning, I wanted to get a workout in before La SaintéLyon, you know I don’t do them often because my feet hurt… But it was an hour and fifteen minutes of trail running, it was so good, I felt so light, I had an easy time running, it was very cool,” she shared. She had even started filming a story for her followers when the incident occurred.

“I wanted to make a little story for you to tell you about it and then I saw a dog. I stopped my story because actually there were three dogs: a red basset hound, a pit bull, and a third dog that I didn’t recognize. And they attacked me…” Brodier recounted.

Only one of the dogs inflicted the injuries. “I have a bite on my hand and a bite on my calf. It’s pretty deep into the flesh, but it could have taken my calf,” she explained. “We just need to see if the tendons are affected and if there’s no infection, so friends, I’m telling you again: please walk your dogs on a leash.”

Initially, Brodier feared she might need surgery. “The doctor looked at the wounds, I might be going to the operating room, because it’s really dirty and deep, a rotten Thursday morning,” she continued. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership.

Fortunately, Brodier provided more reassuring updates on Friday. “It could have taken my calf. My hand was crushed. We still decided to put stitches in because it’s very open,” she said to the camera. “But with dog bites when it doesn’t require surgery, we try to leave it open and clean. I have a nurse coming every two days to change my dressings and clean it because there’s a lot of bacteria.” She added, “On the leg, it’s deeper, some flesh is gone but the tendons aren’t affected.”

Brodier concluded her message with a renewed plea to her followers: “If I’m making this story, it’s so you understand that dogs must be on a leash at all times!”
