MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens announced Friday they have reacquired forward Phillip Danault from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, originally obtained from the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Danault, 32, has registered five assists in 30 games with the Kings this season. The Victoriaville, Quebec native previously played for Montreal from 2015 to 2021, where he enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2018-2019, posting a career-high 53 points (12 goals, 41 assists).
This marks a return to familiar territory for Danault, a fan favorite during his initial stint with the Canadiens. The move bolsters Montreal’s forward depth as they navigate the current NHL season.
Originally selected 26th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2011 NHL Draft, Danault has established himself as a reliable two-way player throughout his NHL career.
