Norwegian football club Strømsgodset and head coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo have officially parted ways, the club confirmed Monday evening. The move follows a period of turbulence after the close of the season and increasing pressure from supporters, with reports surfacing in december that the club was already seeking a replacement. While details remain scarce, the separation was attributed to disagreements regarding dialog, expectations, and clarity within the organization.
DRAMMEN: Strømsgodset has parted ways with head coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo following a turbulent period after the close of the season. Mounting opposition from supporters preceded the decision, and reports in December indicated the club was already seeking a replacement after just half a year with Fagermo at the helm.
Shortly after, the club announced it had received formal complaints against the coach.
Strømsgodset confirmed Monday evening that Fagermo’s tenure as head coach has ended.
“The parties disagree on the form of communication, requirements, and clarity expected of a coach in top-level football. As a result, they have reached an agreement to terminate the employment relationship,” Godset stated on its website.
“Beyond this, the parties have no further comment,” the statement continued.
Drammens Tidende attempted to contact Fagermo Monday evening but did not receive a response.
Strømsgodset also announced Monday that the investigation into the complaints against Fagermo has been completed.
“The board has received and considered the external investigation. This matter is now closed. Due to personnel matters and privacy considerations, Strømsgodset Toppfotball will not comment further on the case.”
