Ed Sheeran Credits Reformer Pilates for Maintaining Health During Grueling Tour

Pop superstar Ed Sheeran has been utilizing Reformer Pilates to stay in shape while on his worldwide tour, according to his personal trainer.

Matt Kendrick, founder of MK Health Hub, began working with Sheeran in Dubai at the end of January, and has since accompanied him across India, China, the US, and Europe. Kendrick stated he was contacted by Sheeran’s manager because the singer “really wanted to focus on his health and his wellness.” He described Sheeran’s schedule as “the most insane schedule I’ve ever seen in my life,” adding, “I don’t know how he does it. He’s superhuman. Literally from the start of the day to the end of the day, there is no stop.” Kendrick also praised Sheeran, saying, “I can genuinely, honestly, say he is one of the nicest people you could possibly meet.”

Reformer Pilates involves a machine using spring-loaded resistance, straps, and pulleys to provide a full-body workout. Kendrick brought a foldable Reformer Pilates machine with him on tour to ensure Sheeran could maintain his fitness regime. For those looking to emulate Sheeran’s approach, Kendrick advises starting with “small, simple changes,” noting that “Tiny little improvements will make a difference over time.” He also suggests a balanced lifestyle, advocating for healthy eating and consistent movement 80% of the time, with the remaining 20% left for indulgence – a principle often discussed in nutrition and wellness circles.

Founded in 2001 with his wife, MK Health Hub initially focused on Dynamic Pilates, a faster-paced version of Reformer Pilates, and now operates studios across Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon. Maintaining peak physical condition is crucial for performers undertaking extensive tour schedules like Sheeran’s, which often involve demanding stage performances and travel. Kendrick indicated Sheeran is currently in New York as part of the ongoing world tour.
