Texas A&M Remains Undefeated, Defeats Missouri 38-17

Texas A&M continued its impressive season yesterday, defeating Missouri 38-17 and maintaining a perfect 9-0 record – their best start since 1992.

The Aggies dominated the second half, rushing for 220 yards and controlling the line of scrimmage after a tight first half. Quarterback Matt Zollers struggled for Missouri, completing only 7 of 22 passes for 77 yards and losing a fumble that led to an A&M touchdown. Marcel Reed led the Aggies’ passing attack with 221 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Rueben Owens added 102 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, including a season-long 57-yard run.

This victory marks Texas A&M’s fourth road win of the season, and their third against a ranked opponent, including a win over Notre Dame. The team’s success is particularly notable as it comes after a disappointing end to last season, where they lost their final four games against Power 4 teams. A strong finish to the season could position the Aggies for a potential spot in the College Football Playoff, something the program hasn’t achieved since the system’s inception in 2014. “Is this our weekly last year question?” head coach Mike Elko asked, referencing past late-season collapses. “I don’t know about the past. I know that that’s four road games that this team has gone on the road and won.”

The Aggies’ 6-0 start in Southeastern Conference play is their best conference run since 1998, when they were in the Big 12. Owens emphasized the team’s focus, stating, “Finish. That was the word for spring. For fall camp. Finish. Last year we didn’t finish, so all week it was finish, finish, finish.” Texas A&M will return home next Saturday to face South Carolina.
