New Exhibition Pathway Unveiled at Rome’s Basilica di Massenzio
A new exhibition pathway designed by international architecture firm Alvisi Kirimoto has opened today at the Basilica di Massenzio within the Colosseum Archaeological Park in Rome, Italy.
The project, commissioned by the Colosseum Archaeological Park, aims to integrate a contemporary design with the historical significance of the site. The pathway is intended to redefine the Basilica’s identity and introduce new functions while maintaining a balance between preserving the past and embracing modernity. This intervention offers visitors a new way to experience one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.
Architects describe the design as establishing a “meaningful dialogue with the site,” offering a “thoughtful reinterpretation of the space.” The Basilica di Massenzio, begun in 306 AD, is a massive and historically important structure, and careful consideration was given to ensure the new pathway respected its immense cultural value. Further exhibitions and events are planned for the new pathway in the coming months.
