Explosion Rocks Harvard Medical School, Authorities Investigate Intentional Act

An explosion at Harvard University’s medical school early today appears to have been intentionally set, though no injuries have been reported, according to university and city officials.

Police responded to a fire alarm at the Goldenson building around 11:00 AM EST on November 2, 2025. Upon arrival, an officer encountered two unidentified individuals who fled the scene before the officer reached the source of the alarm – an explosion. A subsequent investigation by the Boston Fire Department determined the explosion was not accidental.

Authorities have released photographs of the two individuals, who were wearing face coverings and sweatshirts, and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them. A thorough sweep of the building revealed no additional devices. This incident occurs during a period of heightened security concerns on college campuses nationwide.
