A bomb exploded Sunday night in front of the RCN media facilities in Cali, Colombia, the latest in a series of concerning security incidents in the city. While no injuries were reported in the blast, it follows a similar, unsuccessful attack on the same location just 24 hours earlier, raising fears of a coordinated effort.Authorities are investigating potential links to a recent attack on a police station and ongoing instability in the Cauca region, as detailed below.
An explosion rocked the area in front of RCN’s facilities in Cali, Colombia, on Sunday night, prompting a significant law enforcement response in the Industrial Los Mangos neighborhood. The incident involved an explosive device thrown at the media outlet’s building.

According to preliminary reports, the explosive was thrown onto Carrera Octava, between streets 30 and 31, near the administrative area of the RCN headquarters. The blast caused minor damage to some windows of the building. Police confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Following the explosion, the area was cordoned off by public force personnel and officials from the Cali Security Secretariat. Teams on scene began assessing the site for further potential damage and to secure the area for inspection.

The incident occurred after a similar event in the same location just 24 hours prior. Another explosive device was reportedly thrown in the area on November 15th, but it did not detonate. This earlier discovery has raised concerns among residents and workers in the sector. The proximity of the two incidents suggests a possible coordinated effort.
Authorities have launched a detailed review of the materials found at the scene to determine the characteristics of both devices and the circumstances surrounding their deployment.
Officials stated that an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the attack on the media outlet. The inquiry includes gathering information from the blast site, reviewing nearby security camera footage, and examining the undetonated device.
No additional information has been released regarding potential motives or lines of inquiry. The attack occurred one day after another incident in Cali, where a police station in the eastern part of the city was targeted, leaving four people injured.

Information suggests that the attack on the police station may have been in retaliation for an operation in northern Cauca, where a leader allegedly affiliated with a dissident group was killed. Authorities have not yet established a connection between the police station attack and the explosion at the RCN facilities.
Officials have not announced any new security measures in response to the situation and are awaiting the results of the ongoing investigations.
