Midfielder Ezequiel Bullaude’s career trajectory has faced a setback since arriving at Boca Juniors as a promising signing in 2023. After limited opportunities with the Argentinian club,Bullaude has struggled to find consistent playing time with Tijuana in mexico’s Liga MX,raising questions about his path forward despite once being touted as a key talent. The 23-year-old, currently on loan from Feyenoord, has seen a notable reduction in minutes and recently featured with Tijuana’s reserve squad.
Ezequiel Bullaude arrived at Boca Juniors as a key signing ahead of the 2023 Copa Libertadores, but the midfielder has struggled to find his footing and now faces a difficult situation with Tijuana, where he’s seeing limited playing time.
Boca Juniors brought in Ezequiel Bullaude as a significant reinforcement for the 2023 Copa Libertadores campaign. After shining with Godoy Cruz and a stint in Europe with Feyenoord of the Netherlands, he arrived with a reputation as a complete midfielder. However, his time at the famed “La Bombonera” fell short of expectations. Unable to secure consistent minutes and lacking impact on the pitch, a departure was inevitable, especially given a hefty purchase option. Now, in Mexico, he’s facing a similar predicament: limited playing time and a loss of his place in the lineup.
The midfielder, whose rights are still held by Feyenoord, joined Tijuana hoping to revitalize his career, but things haven’t gone as planned. This season, he’s featured in just nine matches, scoring two goals and totaling 137 minutes played. His last appearance with the first team was on November 8th, playing 12 minutes in a 2-0 victory over Atlas. Since then, he’s been left out of the squad and has seen action with the club’s Under-21 team, playing 45 minutes in a 2-0 win against San Luis.
His stint with Boca wasn’t straightforward either. He arrived on a year-long loan and didn’t feature in the Round of 16 or Quarterfinals of the Libertadores. He finally debuted in September against Tigre. With Jorge Almirón as manager, he accumulated 331 minutes in 10 matches and scored one goal in the Copa Argentina against Almagro. He saw some additional minutes under Mariano Herrón, but the situation didn’t improve in 2024. Although Diego Martínez utilized him in five of the first six official matches, he was later sidelined following the return of youth players from the Pre-Olympic tournament.
His last appearance for the “Xeneize” was in April against Nacional Potosí in the Sudamericana. Following that match, Boca decided not to exercise their $10 million purchase option, bringing his loan spell to an end. Bullaude concluded his time with the club with 20 appearances, one goal, and one assist.
