Delaware High School Girls’ Volleyball Tournament: First Round Results & Weekend Schedule

Several Delaware high school girls’ volleyball teams advanced in the DIAA state tournament yesterday, setting the stage for second-round matches this weekend.

Thursday’s first-round contests saw victories for Cape Henlopen (3-0 over DMA), Middletown (3-0 over Mt. Pleasant), Dover (3-1 over Sanford), and MOT Charter (3-0 over Conrad). Scores from the Cape Henlopen match were 25-23, 25-22, and 25-22. Dover’s win required four sets, with a final score of 24-26, 25-17, 25-13, and 25-21. These initial wins narrow the field as teams compete for the state championship.

The second round will begin Friday evening with matches starting at 6 p.m., including Saint Mark’s at Caesar Rodney, Concord at Archmere, Padua at Newark Charter, and Ursuline at Caravel. Saturday’s schedule, also beginning at 6 p.m., features MOT Charter at Sussex Central, Dover at Lake Forest, Middletown at Tower Hill, and Cape Henlopen at Smyrna. Tournament officials stated that all matches will be played at the higher-seeded team’s home gymnasium.
