Egyptian authorities have launched an investigation into the online circulation of digitally altered videos purportedly featuring Lebanese artist Haifa Wehbe. Security agencies have been tasked with tracing the origin of the videos and examining related links shared across social media platforms, according to reports.


The investigation stems from a formal complaint filed with the Public Prosecutor’s Office under number 104999. Wehbe alleges that numerous accounts and groups on social media platforms have been disseminating fabricated and digitally manipulated images and videos falsely attributed to her.


Formal Complaint Filed Over Videos Linked to Haifa Wehbe


Attorney Sharif Hafez formally submitted the complaint to the Public Prosecutor, targeting accounts and groups on Facebook, Telegram, and TikTok, as well as several websites, for publishing unethical and fabricated content intended to defame Wehbe and damage her public image.

The complaint included a technical report from a specialized consulting firm. The report confirmed that all circulating materials were entirely digitally fabricated using artificial intelligence technologies and bear no resemblance to reality. Cybercrime Unit Investigating Links to Videos Featuring Haifa Wehbe


Investigators have requested that the links associated with the complaint be presented to the Internet Investigation Department – Information Technology Administration of the Ministry of Interior for technical examination. The goal is to identify those responsible for creating the content and managing the accounts and groups that promoted it, paving the way for legal action.
