Apple and Issey Miyake Launch iPhone Pocket Accessory
Apple and Japanese fashion label Issey Miyake today unveiled iPhone Pocket, a knitted accessory designed to carry an iPhone and other small everyday items.
The collaboration, born from the concept of “a piece of cloth,” features a 3D-knitted construction intended to fit any iPhone model. Available beginning Friday, November 14, the accessory will be sold at select Apple Store locations and on apple.com in France, Greater China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the UK, and the U.S. The launch comes as Apple continues to expand its accessories ecosystem, offering users more ways to personalize and carry their devices.
iPhone Pocket is available in two strap lengths – short and long – and a variety of colors. “The design of iPhone Pocket speaks to the bond between iPhone and its user, while keeping in mind that an Apple product is designed to be universal in aesthetic and versatile in use,” said Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director of MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO. Apple’s vice president of Industrial Design, Molly Anderson, added that the color palette was “intentionally designed to mix and match with all our iPhone models and colors.” The accessory, crafted in Japan, subtly reveals its contents when stretched, even allowing a peek at the iPhone display.
Pricing for the short strap design is $149.95, while the long strap design retails for $229.95. Select Apple Stores, including locations in New York City, Tokyo, Paris, and London, will carry the limited-edition release. Apple Specialists will be available online and in stores to assist customers with color and style choices.
Customers can purchase iPhone Pocket starting this Friday, and Apple encourages shoppers to explore the various color combinations to personalize their accessory.
