Teh Memphis Grizzlies announced Monday that All-Star guard Ja Morant will be sidelined for at least two weeks with a Grade 1 right calf strain, marking the latest challenge for the struggling Western Conference team[[1]]. Morant suffered the injury during Friday’s game against Cleveland, adding to a growing list of ailments impacting the Grizzlies’ roster as they navigate a four-game losing streak[[3]]. The injury comes after a recent return to the court following a one-game suspension earlier this month[[2]].
Ja Morant is averaging 17.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 7.6 apg this season.
The Memphis Grizzlies will be without star guard Ja Morant for at least the next two weeks after he was diagnosed with a Grade 1 right calf strain, the team announced Monday.
Morant exited Friday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers with right calf soreness after playing just six minutes and scoring seven points. He had also missed Wednesday’s contest in Boston due to a sore right ankle.

The injury initially occurred on November 11 during a loss to the New York Knicks, where Morant played 34 minutes and finished with 16 points and 10 assists, according to Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo.
Morant had recently returned to the lineup, appearing in five consecutive games following a one-game suspension on November 2 at Toronto for conduct detrimental to the team.
The two-time All-Star is currently averaging 17.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game this season. However, he’s experiencing a career-low shooting percentage, connecting on just 35.9% of his field goal attempts and 16.7% from beyond the arc. The Grizzlies (4-10) have now lost four straight games and face a challenging stretch with six of their next eight contests on the road.
Memphis received a boost with the return of center Zach Edey in their game against Cleveland, but continues to navigate a roster hampered by injuries. Shooting guard Ty Jerome (high-grade right calf strain), guard Scotty Pippen Jr. (left big toe), and Brandon Clarke (knee surgery) remain sidelined.
To address the team’s thin guard depth, the Grizzlies signed rookie Jahmai Mashack to a two-way contract on Sunday. Mashack, the 59th overall pick in the June draft, has been developing with the Memphis Hustle in the NBA G League.
