Minot High’s Jackson Earns All-State Honors at North Dakota Cross Country Championships

Minot High School sophomore Kaylee Jackson secured all-state honors for the second consecutive year at the Class A Girls Cross Country State Meet held yesterday at Jamestown’s Parkhurst Campground and Pipestem Reservoir.

Jackson finished 16th with a time of 19 minutes, 30 seconds, improving upon her 15th-place finish at last year’s meet. She was the only local runner to place within the top 20. The Minot Majettes finished ninth as a team with 222 points, competing against a total of nineteen programs. Scout Ulrickson, Alyviah Kopp, Olivia Anderson, and Kamryn Louser also contributed to the Majettes’ team score. Success in cross country can often translate to strong performances in track and field, offering athletes opportunities for college scholarships.

Williston High School claimed its third straight state title, dominating the competition with 41 points, followed by Bismarck Century with 58 points. Century’s Ruby Ihmels won the individual state championship for the third year in a row, finishing in 17:06.9. On the boys’ side, Bismarck High took home its fourth consecutive team state title, while Owen Hintz secured his second individual state championship with a time of 15:27.8. Minot High’s boys team placed 15th with 509 points, led by Xavier Oswald’s 68th-place finish. Minot North finished 20th as a team, with Jon Folk pacing the Sentinels in 62nd place. Officials stated they are already looking forward to next year’s competition and continued growth in the sport across the state.
