The Greater Jakarta region’s public transportation network is poised for expansion with the anticipated December opening of Stasiun Jatake in Tangerang Regency. The new station,a critical link between Cicayur and Parung Panjang on the Jabodetabek commuter rail line, represents a key investment in regional connectivity and aims too ease commuter traffic in one of the world’s most densely populated areas. Following completion of construction, final testing is underway to ensure a smooth launch of the station, projected to serve roughly 20,000 passengers each day.

A new commuter rail station, Stasiun Jatake, located in Pagedangan District, Tangerang Regency, is on track to begin operations in December. The station will serve as a key connection point between the Cicayur and Parung Panjang stations on the Jabodetabek commuter rail network.

Construction of the Stasiun Jatake is now complete, and the project is currently undergoing final testing procedures. Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi indicated he anticipates the station will be operational this month, though a specific date has not yet been confirmed.

“The station construction is finished. We are now in the process of testing the station. We hope to operate Stasiun Jatake this December, hopefully without any changes,” Minister Purwagandhi stated on Friday, December 5, 2025.

Anne Purba, Vice President of Public Relations for KAI, previously discussed plans for the Stasiun Jatake launch. She explained that operational readiness requires securing necessary permits and completing thorough testing protocols.

Ms. Purba stated that a firm launch date remains contingent on the outcome of these tests, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation, before the station can be opened to the public.

“Operating a new station always involves testing and obtaining the required permits. Once everything is finalized, including operational simulations, we will provide updates through DJKA,” Ms. Purba said during a meeting on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in North Jakarta.

The development of Stasiun Jatake is a key component of a broader Transit Oriented Development (TOD) initiative. This project aims to create new urban centers and alleviate traffic congestion by encouraging greater use of public transportation. The initiative reflects a growing emphasis on sustainable urban planning in the region.

The station is being built on a 2.435 square meter plot of land, with a three-story station building covering approximately 3,000 square meters. Located at KM 37+045 on the Tanah Abang – Rangkasbitung route, the station will feature a 250-meter long platform, 6 meters wide.

The station building will house passenger facilities, commercial spaces, and offices for PT KAI. Outside, parking will be available for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. The station is projected to serve approximately 20,000 passengers daily.

Once operational, the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung line will provide service to Tanah Abang, Palmerah, Kebayoran, Pondok Ranji, Jurang Mangu, Sudimara, Rawa Buntu, Serpong, Cisauk, Cicayur, Jatake, Parung Panjang, Cilejit, Daru, Tenjo, Tigaraksa, Cikoya, Maja, Citeras, and Rangkasbitung.
