JBL has not released a new headphone model but has instead updated its existing Tour One M3 with significant improvements, according to a recent report from Frandroid.
The French tech site noted that rather than launching a successor, JBL has focused on refining the current Tour One M3, enhancing its audio performance, noise cancellation, and battery life. The updated version maintains the same design and core specifications but delivers a more balanced sound profile compared to its predecessor, the Tour One M2.
Reviews from multiple sources confirm the improvements. TechRadar highlighted the headphones’ punchy and detailed sound, effective noise cancellation, and comprehensive control app, while noting some limitations in volume composure and perceived value. SoundGuys praised the device as a showcase for the future of wireless ANC technology, emphasizing its internal DAC, Auracast compatibility, and the optional Smart Tx transmitter that enables audio sharing with other devices.
The Tour One M3 weighs 275 grams and measures 160 x 206 x 80 mm. It offers up to 9.9 hours of battery life with ANC enabled, according to SoundGuys testing, and features Bluetooth connectivity with support for lossless audio over USB. The Smart Tx accessory allows the headphones to function as a wireless receiver for non-wireless sources and supports group listening via Auracast-compatible devices.
Though the headphones are priced competitively with premium models from brands like Bose and Sony, reviewers observed that the build quality uses plastics that do not feel as premium as the price point might suggest. Despite this, the overall package—combining audio quality, features, and usability—positions the Tour One M3 as a strong contender in the over-ear wireless headphone market.
The updates to the Tour One M3 reflect JBL’s strategy of refining existing models rather than pursuing frequent redesigns, focusing instead on incremental advancements in sound engineering and user experience.
