Kotapinang Police and Health Officials Launch Mass Fogging Campaign to Prevent Dengue Fever
In a proactive effort to curb the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD), the Kotapinang Police Sector conducted extensive mass fogging operations on April 30, 2026. The initiative targeted the police headquarters (Mako), personnel dormitories, and surrounding residential neighborhoods to eliminate the threat of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

The operation was a collaborative effort between personnel from the Kotapinang Police Sector and health professionals from the Kotapinang Community Health Center (Puskesmas Kotapinang). Together, the teams carried out thorough spraying across office areas, staff housing, and the homes of local residents near the police station.
Speaking on behalf of the South Labuhanbatu Police Chief, AKBP Aditya S.P. Sembiring M, S.I.K., the Kotapinang Police Chief, AKP Maruli Tua Siregar, S.H., M.H., emphasized that the campaign reflects the police force’s commitment to public health, particularly as fluctuating weather patterns increase the risk of dengue outbreaks.
“This fogging is not only for the Police Sector environment, but also for the surrounding community. We want to ensure that residents sense safe and protected from the threat of DBD,” said AKP Maruli.
While fogging provides an immediate reduction in adult mosquito populations, health officials stressed that long-term prevention requires consistent community action. AKP Maruli urged the public to maintain a clean environment by implementing healthy living habits, such as draining water storage containers, keeping water vessels tightly closed, and burying waste materials that could serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
The presence of police and health workers within the neighborhoods was met with enthusiasm from local residents, some of whom actively assisted the teams during the fogging process. This coordinated response underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in managing public health risks and protecting vulnerable urban populations from vector-borne diseases.
