A German man who purchased a seemingly empty safe for just 15 euros made an astonishing discovery when he found a hidden compartment containing a gold bar worth approximately 32,000 euros.
The buyer, from Bavaria, initially believed he had acquired only the metal casing of the safe. However, upon closer inspection, he uncovered a concealed section inside the unit that held the valuable gold bar.
Recognizing the significance of his find, the man promptly turned the gold over to local authorities, as reported by multiple German news outlets including De Telegraaf, GVA, and HBVL.
The incident highlights how overlooked items in secondhand markets can sometimes conceal unexpected value, though officials have not disclosed further details about the safe’s origins or the ongoing investigation.
