Malayalam cinema veterans manu Varma and Sindhu Varma are separating after 25 years of marriage,confirming weeks of speculation within the South Indian film industry. Varma publicly addressed the split, revealing the couple has been living apart for the past two years and a reconciliation is unlikely. The separation brings an end to a prominent partnership both on and off-screen for the pair, both well-known figures in Malayalam film and television.
Beloved Malayalam actors Manu Varma and Sindhu Varma are reportedly separating after 25 years of marriage, news that has sent ripples through the South Indian entertainment industry. Varma confirmed the split in a recent interview, revealing that he and Sindhu have been living separately for the past two years.
“My wife and I are currently separated. We haven’t legally divorced yet, and the possibility of getting back together is very slim,” Varma said. “It doesn’t make sense to say we lived a life filled with love and affection when so many others who have loved and cherished each other have also gone their separate ways.”

Varma explained that the couple had been together and happy as recently as two or three years ago, but acknowledged that things can change quickly. “It’s better to live separately when you’re no longer compatible. Why struggle to stay together when it only leads to more problems? In many Western countries, this is the norm, and people who separate often maintain a friendly relationship. That’s something I’d like to see happen here, but if that leads to a divorce, so be it. There’s nothing wrong with separated couples remaining friends. Unfortunately, that’s not the culture in Kerala, where people often act like enemies if they even come face to face.”

The actor shared that he has three children. His eldest son is an IT engineer based in the United States, his second son lives in Bangalore, and his youngest child is a daughter who has health issues. “She’s a sick little one,” Varma said.
Varma is the son of the late actor Jaganath Varma. Both Manu and Sindhu Varma have enjoyed successful careers in Malayalam cinema and television, often appearing together in projects. The news of their separation marks the end of a prominent chapter in the region’s entertainment scene.
