Malayalam cinema continues to gain global recognition, and the upcoming film ‘Rachel‘ is poised to contribute to that momentum. The film marks the directorial debut of Anandini Bala, alongside co-writer and co-producer Ebrid Shine, and features Hony Rose in a role significantly different from her previous work. Set for a December 6th release across five languages, ‘Rachel’ recently held trailer launch and audio launch events in Kochi, generating buzz for its intense narrative and striking visuals.

Hony Rose Takes on a Unique Role as a Butcher in ‘Rachel’

Hony Rose is set to deliver a career-defining performance in the upcoming film ‘Rachel,’ directed by debutante Anandini Bala. Ebrid Shine serves as co-writer and co-producer on the project, which also stars a large ensemble cast including Baburaj and Roshan Bashir. The film is poised to add another compelling title to the growing slate of Malayalam cinema gaining international attention.

A character poster featuring Baburaj as “Joy” has been released, offering a glimpse into his role in ‘Rachel.’ The film is scheduled for a Christmas release on December 6th, debuting in five languages. Ebrid Shine, a well-known director in Malayalam cinema, is also a co-producer and co-writer, while Anandini Bala marks her directorial debut.

The film’s trailer launch event took place in Kochi on November 21st, with director Vinayan unveiling the footage. The audio launch was jointly hosted by director Lal Jose and producer Joby George. ‘Rachel’ centers on Hony Rose’s portrayal of a butcher, a stark departure from her previous roles, and promises a gripping narrative. Baburaj plays the character of Pothupara Joyi, Rachel’s father, and is expected to deliver a memorable performance. The trailer hints at intense action sequences.

‘Rachel’ Boasts a Stellar Cast

Initial posters featuring Hony Rose at a meat stall garnered significant attention, as did the film’s teaser. The trailer suggests a visually striking and intense experience filled with violence, bloodshed, and powerful performances. In addition to Malayalam, the film will be released in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi.

Alongside Hony Rose and Baburaj, the cast includes Roshan Bashir, Chandu Salimkumar, Radhika Radhakrishnan, Jaffar Idukki, Vineeth Thattil, Jooji, Dinesh Prabhakar, Poly Valsan, and Vanditha Manohar. The film is shaping up to be a revenge thriller.

Produced by Manju Badusha, Shahul Hameed, and Rajan Chirayil under the banner of Badushas Silver Screen Entertainment, ‘Rachel’ features a story by Rahul Manappat, with the screenplay co-written by Rahul Manappat and Ebrid Shine.
