MLB Launches Capital One MLB Open Golf Tournament Featuring Stars Past and Present

Major League Baseball today announced the Capital One MLB Open, a new golf tournament showcasing current and former MLB players, designed to expand player visibility beyond the baseball diamond.

The inaugural tournament will be held November 12-14 at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will serve as a cornerstone of MLB Awards Week. Sixty current and former Major Leaguers representing all 30 Clubs are scheduled to participate, including Jimmy Rollins, Tarik Skubal, John Smoltz, Justin Turner, and David Wright, with Mookie Betts contributing as a correspondent. Tournament coverage will air on TNT on November 18, with additional highlights on MLB Network on November 20. A unique modified Stableford point-based scoring system will be used, with the winning team earning donations to charities of their choice.

“For years we’ve wanted to create this truly one-of-a-kind offseason golf experience for players and fans, but it took the support of key partners in Capital One, MGM Resorts and TNT Sports to bring everything together,” said Noah Garden, MLB Deputy Commissioner, Business & Media. Capital One cardholders will have access to VIP packages, including the opportunity to play Shadow Creek with MLB stars, as noted by Byron Daub, Vice President of Brand Sponsorships at Capital One. Fans interested in attending the associated MLB Awards can find ticket information at MLB.com.

The tournament is being produced by Mike Flaskey Entertainment, with television production led by PGA Tour Productions and support from MLB Network. This event coincides with the MLB Awards presented by MGM Rewards, airing live on MLB Network from The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on November 13, where Mookie Betts will co-host with Roy Wood Jr.

Officials stated that further details regarding the full list of participants will be released at a later date.
