Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Chicago Cubs 12-4 on Sunday, April 26, 2026, ending the Cubs’ 10-game winning streak and securing Roki Sasaki’s first win of the season after a 357-day wait.
Sasaki, making his fifth start of the season, pitched 5.1 innings despite allowing three solo home runs — to Seiya Suzuki, Moisés Ballesteros, and Miguel Amaya — and seven hits although striking out five. He threw a career-high 99 pitches and earned the win as the Dodgers’ offense exploded for 14 hits.
The breakthrough came in the fourth inning when Los Angeles erupted for six runs to turn a 3-2 deficit into an 8-3 lead. Max Muncy started the rally with a two-run double in the third to tie the game, and after Ballesteros’ homer put Chicago ahead, the Dodgers responded immediately. Alex Freeland’s RBI single tied it, followed by Freddie Freeman’s go-ahead hit that knocked out Cubs starter Colin Rea. Teoscar Hernández, Dalton Rushing, and Andy Pages then delivered consecutive RBI singles to stretch the lead to 8-3.
Chicago threatened in the sixth, loading the bases with one out while trailing 8-4, but Dodgers relievers Jack Dreyer and Will Klein combined to strike out Dansby Swanson and Pete Crow-Armstrong before inducing a groundout from Amaya to end the inning.
Los Angeles added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth on a wild pitch and timely hits to seal the victory.
At the plate, Shohei Ohtani ended an 0-for-12 slump with a hit and stole his second base of the season. Suzuki had a strong performance against his fellow Japanese pitcher, going 3-for-4 with a home run and raising his batting average.
The win marked Sasaki’s second career MLB victory, coming exactly 357 days after his last win on May 3, 2025. It also gave the Dodgers their highest-scoring game at home this season.
