Swatch is planning a uniquely weather-dependent launch for its new “Cold Moon” Moonswatch, set to begin December 4th. The highly-anticipated timepiece, featuring Snoopy and Woodstock designs and a 350 Swiss Franc price tag, will only be available for purchase in stores worldwide when it is indeed actively snowing in Switzerland. This unconventional release strategy is the latest in a series of limited-edition drops for the popular collaborative line between Swatch and Omega, known for its nods to the iconic Speedmaster Moonwatch [[3]].

The highly anticipated Moonswatch Cold Moon will retail for 350 Swiss Francs and features a white design. The watch boasts both a moon phase and an earth phase display, offering a touch of cosmic inspiration for wearers. The dial also showcases an illustration of Snoopy and Woodstock in astronaut suits, and a hidden message, “I beat everybody,” appears under UV light. The oceans on the earth phase display also glow when exposed to UV light.

The moon depicted in the moon phase display is styled after Snoopy, while the earth phase features a unique snowflake – Swatch states that each snowflake is one-of-a-kind. This limited-edition approach is typical of the popular Moonswatch line, known for driving consumer engagement and secondary market activity.

The December 4th launch date coincides with the full moon – often referred to as the “Cold Moon” – occurring shortly after midnight on Friday. However, the availability of the watch extends beyond this date, with a planned sales window through March 20, 2026, contingent on weather conditions.

The watch will only be available for purchase in stores worldwide when it is snowing in Switzerland. While snowfall isn’t required across the entire country, even higher-elevation snow could trigger availability on Friday. Although some precipitation is expected over the weekend, Meteoschweiz reports that the snow line is rising.
Further forecasts remain uncertain, but indications point towards drier, partly sunny, and milder weather – potentially unwelcome news for eager collectors.
With winter just beginning, statistically, January and February typically see the most snowfall in Switzerland, offering hope for continued availability. (vro)
