Evansville Men’s Soccer Secures Road Draw Against Drake in MVC Match
The University of Evansville men’s soccer team earned a 0-0 draw against the Drake Bulldogs yesterday in Des Moines, Iowa, marking their first road result against Drake since 2017.
Goalkeeper Michal Mroz recorded three saves, leading the Aces defense to their third consecutive shutout in Missouri Valley Conference play – a feat not achieved by Evansville since 1990. Mroz thwarted a scoring opportunity in the 16th minute with a leaping save and added crucial stops in the 69th minute to maintain the clean sheet. Tancredi Fadda nearly broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, but his shot struck the crossbar.
Head Coach Robbe Tarver praised the team’s defensive effort, stating, “It was a tough battle. They probably created a few more chances, but we defended well. To be on the road again and get a result, not allow a goal, there are a lot of good things we can take away.” The result positions Evansville favorably in the MVC standings, guaranteeing at least a tie for the top spot after this weekend’s matches. With the draw, Evansville’s overall record moves to 4-3-6 and 2-0-1 in MVC play. The Aces remain the only team in the conference yet to concede a goal in conference competition. Their next match is scheduled for Saturday against UIC; you can view the full Evansville Purple Aces schedule here.
