Kawhi Leonard Named Player of the Week, Several Stars Recognized

Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers has been named the NBA’s Player of the Week, the league announced. This marks the fifth time in his career that Leonard has received the honor.

Leonard averaged an impressive 41.3 points, 9 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 58% from the field, 50% from three-point range, and 97.1% from the free-throw line during the week. The Clippers are battling for playoff positioning in the Western Conference, and Leonard’s performance has been crucial to their recent success.

Joining Leonard in receiving nominations for the weekly award were Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokić, Anthony Edwards, and Scottie Barnes. Jokić, the reigning NBA MVP, continues to lead the Denver Nuggets with his dominant all-around play.

Brunson and Ja Morant were also recognized as Players of the Week, earning the honors for the Eastern Conference. Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks and Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies each received the award for their respective conferences.
