During a high-profile launch event on April 15, 2026, officials announced that the city will officially host the 2026 “Yangtze River Delta International Youth Film Week.” The event, co-hosted by the China Media Group (CMG) and the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, represents a significant step in fostering international cinematic collaboration.
The announcement served as the centerpiece of the “Film Culture Carnival,” a multi-day event running from April 15 to April 19, 2026. Guided by the National Film Administration and organized by the China Media Group and the Zhejiang Provincial Government, the carnival was designed as an immersive experience. By blending the “experience economy” with movie industry showcases and intangible cultural heritage markets, the event featured five innovative activity sectors aimed at creating a comprehensive cinematic celebration.
The prestige of the upcoming Film Week was underscored during the April 15 ceremony, where Lai Yingjie, the Executive Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee, personally extended invitations to Hussein Fahmy, President of the Cairo International Film Festival, and actress Ma Li.
