Latvia’s Olympic Committee is inviting residents across the country to join in celebrating Olympic Day 2026 on April 24, marking the traditional conclusion of the Olympic Month.

The nationwide event, which has been held annually since 1992, will this year run from April 24 to 24, continuing the five-season tradition that began on March 24. Organizers say more than 153,000 participants from 41 municipalities have already taken part in the Olympic Month activities.

The main celebration will kick off at 9:30 a.m. With the Olympic Hour, broadcast live from Madliena Secondary School. This year’s theme is “Olympic Medals,” exploring the history and tradition of medal presentations from ancient times to the present day.

The live stream will be hosted by Jānis Pētersons and will feature Roberts Krūzbergs, bronze medalist in the men’s doubles luge at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, who will share his journey to Olympic success. Also joining the discussion are Paula Dundere, digital content creator and author of the “Vidzemes vēstnese” step challenge, and Agnese Grīnpūkala, teacher and creator of the “Sportiņā” workout routines.

Viewers will learn about the evolution of Olympic medal ceremonies and get introduced to Latvia’s and the world’s most decorated Olympic medalists. Municipalities and educational institutions that participated in the “Every Step Is Worth It #Sportiņā” challenge will be recognized during the broadcast.

Throughout the Olympic Month, participants have been able to access specially designed workout routines set to music — including versions for adults to the track “With the Wind” by GACHO and for children to “My Superpowers” from the “Tutu lietas” series — in preparation for a group morning workout at 11:00 a.m. On Olympic Day.

Those interested in joining the live Olympic Hour can access the stream through the provided link.
