The 23-year-old Hungarian international joins the Czech First League club on a permanent deal, bringing an end to his two-year stint with the Polish Ekstraklasa side. This move follows a period where Baráth became a regular fixture in Raków’s lineup, contributing in both domestic and European competitions.
Hungarian Defender Péter Baráth Joins Sigma Olomouc in Permanent Transfer
Raków Częstochowa has confirmed the departure of defender Péter Baráth to Czech side Sigma Olomouc. The move, finalized on January 15, 2026, sees the 23-year-old join the Czech club on a permanent deal.
Negotiations had been progressing for some time, with Baráth already completing medical tests ahead of the transfer. Sigma Olomouc’s Sporting Director, Pavel Hapal, expressed his delight with the acquisition. “We are extremely happy that we managed to acquire Péter,” Hapal said. “We are convinced that he has all the attributes to be a reinforcement for our team. He is a player with international experience, confirmed in European competitions, and also represents his country. We believe that together we will achieve success.”
Baráth initially arrived at Raków Częstochowa on loan at the beginning of 2024. Following a successful loan spell, the Polish club exercised their option to purchase the Hungarian international from Ferencvárosi. He went on to make 27 appearances for Raków across all competitions this season.

In total, the two-time Hungarian international featured in 64 matches for Raków, scoring five goals and providing two assists. This move comes as Sigma Olomouc continues to bolster its squad for the remainder of the Czech Extraliga season.
Sigma Olomouc currently sits in eighth place in the Czech First League standings. The club recently announced another signing from Poland, Jakub Jezierski, from Śląsk Wrocław, for a reported fee of around 300,000 euros. Dario Grgić, Fabijan Krivak, and Danijel Sturm have also recently joined the club.
