Denver Water to Begin Major Pipe Replacement Project on Sheridan Boulevard

Denver Water will begin replacing nearly 8,000 linear feet of aging water mains beneath Sheridan Boulevard in January 2026, a project intended to improve water infrastructure reliability for the region.

The work, scheduled to take place in advance of the City of Edgewater’s Sheridan Boulevard Multimodal Corridor Plan, will primarily occur at night, Sunday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to minimize disruption to businesses and traffic. The first phase of construction will focus on the stretch of Sheridan Boulevard between 17th and 29th avenues and is expected to last approximately nine months. Following completion of the first phase, crews will continue south along Sheridan Boulevard, working between 17th and 13th avenues.

Partner agencies involved in the broader corridor plan include the City and County of Denver, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the Regional Transportation District. Denver Water will provide project updates through email and on the Nextdoor platform, with specific notifications sent to residents and businesses directly impacted by the construction. Aging water infrastructure is a growing concern nationwide, leading to increased investment in upgrades like this one.

The overall project is anticipated to be completed by early 2027. For more information on Denver Water projects, visit their projects page.

Officials stated that regular updates will be provided throughout the duration of the project, and they appreciate the public’s patience during this important infrastructure improvement.
