Fighting intensifies in the Zaporizhzhia region as Russian forces attempt to fully capture Gulyaipole, a key strategic city that has seen weeks of sustained combat[[3]]. Recent reports indicate Ukrainian forces have largely withdrawn to the western part of the city, while russia continues to consolidate its position and advance on neighboring settlements[[2]]. The potential loss of Gulyaipole, alongside Orekhove, could significantly weaken Ukraine’s defensive capabilities in the region and open a pathway towards Zaporizhzhia city itself[[2]].

Russian forces are nearing full control of the city of Gulyaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, according to recent reports. The fighting for the city, a strategically important location in southern Ukraine, has been ongoing for weeks as Russia seeks to consolidate its gains in the region.

Ukrainian forces have been largely pushed out of Gulyaipole, with control now limited to the western part of the city along Shevchenko Street, sources indicate. The developments come as Russian troops continue heavy fighting within the city limits and work to expand their foothold on the western bank of the Haychur River.

Military sources report that Russian forces from the “Vostok” (East) grouping repelled six Ukrainian counterattacks over the past 24 hours. Simultaneously, Russian troops have made advances northwest of Herasymivka, west of Radostne, Dobropillya, and Varvarivka, moving in the direction of Ternuvate and Kosovtseve.

Analysts suggest that capturing Gulyaipole and Orekhove would remove significant Ukrainian defensive positions on the path toward Zaporizhzhia. Two Russian groupings, “Vostok” and “Yug” (South), are currently advancing in the area, separated by approximately 25 to 30 miles. This positioning could allow them to concentrate forces and increase pressure on Zaporizhzhia.

The advance could also disrupt the logistics of the entire Ukrainian grouping in the Donetsk region, according to assessments. The situation underscores the potential for a shift in the dynamics of the conflict in southern Ukraine.
