Samsung is preparing to bolster its wireless charging ecosystem alongside the anticipated early 2025 launch of its Galaxy S26 smartphone series. The South Korean tech giant is reportedly developing a new 25W Qi2 wireless charger, model EP-P2900, as reported by SamMobile, signaling a deeper commitment to the evolving wireless charging standard. This move comes as Samsung plans enhancements to wireless and wired charging speeds across the S26 lineup, with the Ultra model possibly reaching 25W wireless and 60W wired capabilities.
Samsung is planning to launch a dedicated 25W Qi2 wireless charger alongside its upcoming Galaxy S26 series early next year, generating significant interest among consumers.
According to reports from SamMobile, Samsung is currently developing the new charging accessory, designated model number EP-P2900.
While specific design details remain undisclosed, the charger is expected to take the form of either a pad or a stand.
The release of the new charger is anticipated to coincide with the unveiling of the S26 series. It’s expected to be compatible not only with the Galaxy S series but also with the Galaxy Z lineup, Galaxy Buds, and other peripherals that support the Qi2 standard.
The introduction of this new charger comes as Samsung is expected to enhance the wireless charging capabilities of the Galaxy S26 series.
Early reports suggest the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus will support up to 20W wireless charging, while the S26 Ultra is projected to offer up to 25W wireless charging.
This functionality will be based on the Qi2.2 standard, incorporating an internal magnetic structure to improve alignment accuracy with compatible charging pads. The move to Qi2 represents a broader industry shift towards a more standardized and efficient wireless charging experience.
Improvements to wired charging speeds are also rumored.
The base S26 model is reportedly expected to support up to 25W wired charging, the S26 Plus up to 45W, and the Ultra model up to 60W.
Samsung appears to be moving beyond simply being “Qi2 ready” with the S26 series, and will fully integrate magnetic alignment for Qi2 support.
This integration is expected to significantly expand compatibility with a wide range of Qi2-based products, including magnetic car mounts, wireless charging stands, MagSafe-compatible power banks, and wallet-style accessories.
