Brie Larson, Elizabeth Olsen Recreate Controversial ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Scene at Fan Convention
Actors Brie Larson and Elizabeth Olsen delighted fans yesterday by recreating the widely debated “A-Force” scene from the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame at the Spaceon convention in San Antonio, Texas.
The actresses posed with fans dressed as Marvel characters including Star-Lord, Spider-Man, and Thanos, bringing to life the moment Captain Marvel led a team of female heroes – including Wanda Maximoff, Okoye, Wasp, and Valkyrie – to deliver the Infinity Gauntlet. The original scene sparked considerable debate among viewers, with some criticizing it as feeling contrived, while others praised its representation of female power within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The recreation follows years of discussion surrounding the sequence, even prompting a satirical take in the show The Boys. Creator Eric Kripke explained to The Hollywood Reporter in 2020 that the “Girls Get it Done” scene was born from frustration with the Endgame moment, calling it “condescending.” Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely defended the scene in 2019, telling Variety they aimed to “celebrate” the growing number of prominent female characters in the MCU.
Paul Bettany, who portrays Vision, also participated in the fan event, recreating his character’s death scene with Olsen. Marvel Studios has continued to expand its female-led projects, including Olsen’s acclaimed series WandaVision, demonstrating a continued commitment to showcasing its diverse cast of heroes.
Representatives for Larson and Olsen have not commented on the recreation, but the moment has quickly circulated online, reigniting conversations about the scene’s legacy and its impact on fandom.
