Elegant Weapons’ New Album Finished, Awaits Label Deal
The sophomore album from Elegant Weapons, the band featuring Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner, has been fully recorded and mixed, but its release hinges on securing a new record label.
Vocalist Ronnie Romero revealed today that the album is “totally done,” having received final mixes from Faulkner just weeks ago. He described the new material as a significant step forward from the band’s 2023 debut, Horns For A Halo, due to a more collaborative songwriting process. “This time we took the time, going to the studio, being all together with Richie Faulkner and [producer] Andy Sneap and just working on the songs,” Romero explained. “We spent a lot of time together, so this is more Elegant Weapons than the first one.”
Faulkner is currently navigating potential record label partnerships, having decided not to renew with the label that released their first album. The timing of the release is also dependent on his commitments with Judas Priest, who are currently touring the U.S. and preparing to begin work on a new album of their own. The band, which also includes Christopher Williams (Accept) and Dave Rimmer (Uriah Heep), aims to establish itself as a consistent force in the hard rock scene, a goal Faulkner has publicly stated. “It wasn’t about the one record recorded during COVID; it was about a band that goes on,” Faulkner said in a previous interview.
Romero also shared that cover art for the new album has been completed, suggesting the project is nearing full readiness for release. The band’s success could offer a new avenue for established musicians to explore side projects while maintaining their commitments to larger, legacy acts. Faulkner indicated that a release date will be announced once a label deal is finalized.
