Shakira’s $33M Bahamas Island: Paradise For Sale Near Miami

Shakira is listing a stunning Caribbean island for sale, just 200 kilometers from Miami, Florida.

The singer has owned the Bahamian property, known as Bonds Cay, since 2006, initially acquiring it with a group of investors as a secluded retreat from the intense media spotlight. She also considered developing sustainable real estate projects and creative spaces on the island, plans that ultimately weren’t realized, leaving the territory largely undeveloped.

Corcoran CA Christie Bahamas is handling the sale, offering the island to high-net-worth buyers. The property encompasses over 263 hectares (approximately 650 acres) with roughly 21 kilometers (13 miles) of coastline featuring white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and a virtually untouched natural environment. Access is exclusively by air or sea – yachts or helicopter – ensuring a high level of privacy.

Gavin Christie, a real estate agent with the company, told Mansion Global that “it’s incredibly rare to uncover an island of this size that remains completely pristine. It’s one of the most impressive private islands in all of the Bahamas, with 263 hectares of unspoiled beauty.”

Bonds Cay is valued at 25 million euros, roughly $33 million USD, equivalent to approximately 108 billion Colombian pesos. Shakira initially purchased the property 20 years ago for $16 million, meaning the island has doubled in value over two decades.

Before Shakira, the Caribbean territory was linked to British musician Roger Waters, co-founder of Pink Floyd, who, like the Colombian singer, envisioned developing a sustainable real estate project on the island.

Vanity Fair recently reported that Bonds Cay is a popular destination for celebrities like Alejandro Sanz – a close friend of Shakira – and Miguel Bosé, who appreciate its proximity to Miami and the privacy it offers.

As Shakira lists another of her properties for sale – having already sold her Barcelona home where she lived with Gerard Piqué – the singer continues her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, with her next stop in Mexico for a second time. The sale comes as Shakira continues to dominate global music charts and touring revenue.

She will also perform at the Saudi Arabian Formula 1 Grand Prix on April 19th at the Jeddah circuit, and will headline Todos en Río on May 2nd on the beaches of Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
