Awake NY to Host “Silent Echoes” Art Installation by Leyla Fischer
New York, NY – Awake NY will launch its Fall/Winter 2025 season with “Silent Echoes,” a new art installation by artist Leyla Fischer, opening today, October 18th, at its Orchard Street flagship store.
The exhibition features Fischer’s signature oil paintings of dog figures, titled “Guardians of Valor,” “Hidden Identity,” “Masters of Angels,” “Downfall,” “Yer Blues” and “She Loves You.” The Orchard Street location will be transformed into a meditative gallery space for the occasion, with the opening reception scheduled from 6 to 8 PM ET. Fischer’s work is known for its exploration of complex themes, and this installation offers a unique opportunity to experience her art in a retail setting, potentially attracting a broader audience to contemporary art.
Fischer’s paintings are characterized by thick layers of oil paint and a focus on instinct and reflection, balancing strength and vulnerability without relying on direct storytelling. Her previous work has consistently engaged with questions of faith, identity, and emotion, as highlighted in a recent Studio Visits spotlight. To commemorate the event, Awake NY has collaborated with Fischer on a limited-edition T-shirt featuring the artist’s portrait and motifs from the series.
Awake NY’s flagship store is located at 62 Orchard St. in New York City.
