Slovakia is heading to the medal round at the 2026 Winter Olympics after a dominant 6-2 victory over Germany in the quarterfinal round. The win secures a chance to add to their bronze medal from the 2022 Beijing Games.

Slovakia has established a clear pattern of success against Germany on the Olympic stage. This victory echoes their 4-0 triumph four years ago in Beijing, which launched their medal run.

Coming off a surprising win to top a tough Group B and enjoying three days of rest, Slovakia appeared refreshed and ready for the challenge. Germany, meanwhile, looked fatigued after having to play an eighth-final game against France.

Germany found themselves under immediate pressure, as Slovakia’s offensive firepower was on full display. Pavol Regenda opened the scoring, ultimately leading the way with two goals and an assist, as the Slovaks registered 18 shots to Germany’s 5 in the first period.

Slovakia built a commanding lead in the second period, scoring three times on five shots. They continued their offensive onslaught, extending their advantage to 6-2.

Slovakia will await the outcome of the remaining quarterfinal matchups to learn their semifinal opponent.
