Authorities are working to identify three people who died Saturday when a double-decker bus crashed, and are preparing to notify their families. The incident has prompted a thorough investigation into the cause of the collision.

The driver of the bus was initially arrested and questioned by police on Saturday, and later released pending further investigation. He remains a suspect in the case, officials said.

“When the three deceased are identified and all relatives have been informed, we will release that information. I don’t rule out that happening today,” said Ola Österling, a police spokesperson.

Police are continuing to conduct follow-up interviews with witnesses and the suspect, analyzing statements to piece together a clearer understanding of the events leading up to the crash. They are also interviewing the three individuals who sustained injuries in the accident, two of whom were hospitalized with serious wounds. Their current condition remains unknown.

“We are making progress in clarifying what happened, as you would expect with an investigation like this,” Österling stated.

Investigators have also examined evidence collected at the scene and reviewed video footage. A technical inspection of the bus is underway, with further analysis planned on the vehicle itself.

“A technical examination has been carried out in some areas, but more will be done on the seized bus,” Österling said.

Police have not released details about the identities of those killed, citing the need to avoid speculation and ensure families are properly informed. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
