Dublin Pleasanton Tennis Team Places Second at USTA National Championship
The Dublin Pleasanton Tennis Group’s 18+ Men’s 3.0 team secured second place at the 2025 USTA National Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona, marking the second time the team has achieved this national ranking.
The team finished as runner-up among over 1,000 competing teams, a significant accomplishment for the Northern California contingent. “This is a moment of immense pride for NorCal and especially for the communities of Pleasanton, Dublin, and San Ramon,” said first-time team Captain Gabriel Mangonon. “We started as underdogs and ended as finalists. That journey speaks volumes about our heart and hunger.”
Players trained four days a week at the Pleasanton Tennis Park under coach Narayana Rao Surapaneni, who has guided eight teams and over 100 players to national championships in just three and a half years. Surapaneni previously led a team to victory at the United States Tennis Association League Adult 40 & Over 3.0 National Championship in 2022 – a first for Northern California. The team demonstrated remarkable perseverance, with seven players competing despite serious injuries, including ankle and knee issues, and often facing opponents decades younger. Success in USTA League play can often serve as a pathway to higher levels of competitive tennis. The USTA offers a variety of programs for players of all ages and abilities.
The team roster includes Devank Agarwal, Nikhil Agashe, Faisal Ahmad, Gaurav Anand, Alejandro Angel, Rex Dela Rosa, Ivan Dobrovolskyi, Rama Erigindindla, Jimmy Agustin, Mukul Singh, Sumanth Ghanta, Melvin I Fox, Sai Charan Kukunoor, Arjun Kumar, Arthur Kwun, Hiren Mandalia, Gabriel Mangonon, Raj Narisetti, Jagadeesh Nelaparthi, Venkata Sravan Nittala, RaghuRam Pamidimarri, Srini Parimi, Arun Pentapalli, Sachin Shetti, and Chagari Vamsi Reddy. Pleasanton’s tennis facilities have become a hub for competitive play in the region.
Surapaneni stated the team “didn’t just play tennis. They embodied resilience,” and officials indicated they will begin preparations for the 2026 season in the coming months.
