President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a ceasefire, according to multiple French-language Canadian news outlets reporting on the development.
The agreements were reported by Radio-Canada, La Presse, TVA Nouvelles, Le Journal de Montréal, and BFM, all citing the announcement as coming directly from Trump.
Radio-Canada specified that the ceasefire would last for 10 days between Israel and Lebanon.
Le Journal de Montréal reported that the truce would begin at 5 p.m. Local time on what would be the 48th day of the ongoing Middle East conflict.
La Presse added that the Lebanese president had declined a “direct contact” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prior to the agreement.
The announcements come amid continued international attention on the regional conflict, with various outlets emphasizing the significance of the diplomatic development as reported by the former U.S. President.
