Mathieu van der Poel continued his reign in cyclocross, securing a dominant victory in Gavere, Belgium on Sunday.The win marks an extraordinary 16th consecutive victory for the Dutch rider, further solidifying his position as a leading figure in the sport [1]. Mathieu van der Poel continued his dominant form, securing victory in the cyclocross race in Gavere, Belgium, on Sunday, December 21, 2025. This marks his sixth consecutive cyclocross win and a remarkable 16th in a row, with his last defeat coming in Benidorm in January 2024.

Van der Poel held a strong position within the leading group throughout the race, launching his decisive attack in the penultimate lap to ultimately finish 21 seconds ahead of local favorite Thibau Nys. Fellow Dutchman Tibor del Grosso rounded out the podium in third place.

Czech rider Michael Boroš achieved his best result of the season, finishing 17th among the elite field. He was 2 minutes and 24 seconds behind Van der Poel, surpassing his previous best of 18th place from Tábor.

In the women’s race, Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado reaffirmed her dominance with a sixth victory in six World Cup starts this season. She finished 15 seconds ahead of France’s Amandine Fouquenet, with Dutch rider Puck Pieters taking third. Czech Republic’s Kristýna Zemanová, who had consistently finished in the top ten in her four previous starts, did not compete in this event.

The cyclocross World Cup series continues on Sunday, December 22nd, in Dendermonde.
